Zip Line Machu Picchu (Cola de Mono)

The Canopy "Cola de Mono" is an adventure activity that is anchored from one mountain to another cables, where a person slips through a pulley attached to a waist harness.

This Canopy is the first designed and built in Peru. They are 2500 meters of cable divided into 6 sections, where the longest is more than 400 meters away, and the highest is more than 150 meters high.

The tour lasts approximately 2 hours and the departure and arrival points are ground or aerial platforms installed in rock. The maximum speed of a sliding cable is 60 kph.

The complement to this activity is a rock climbing a vertical ladder called "Via Ferrata" located more than 150 meters from Sacsara, river belonging to the Valley where the "Canopy Cola de Mono".

All this activity is done with a previous instructive talk on a base that is located under the Canopy cables, a small cable in school, which gives the customer a perspective of experience is to be known camp.

The canopy tour starts with a walk climb of about 20 minutes, then circuit 6 cables will be another small hike down to the base, where the teams will be returned camp.

The Canopy Tour includes all equipment (harness, helmet and gloves) as well as the guided and supervised tour of the canopy.

  ⇒ The tour takes approximately 2 hours and starts at the Cola de Mono base camp with an orientation from our guides.
  ⇒ After this, a 20 min walk will take you to the beginning of the circuit, which consists of a total of 2500m of cables divided into 7 sections.
  ⇒ After the third cable, there is a rockclimb up a vertical ladder (Via Ferrata) more than 150m above the Rio Sacsara.
  ⇒ Finally, there’s a short walk back down to Cola de Mono base camp, where equipment is returned.

 If I am in Aguas Calientes, how do i get to Cola de Mono?

There are 2 ways:

⇒Hiking: There is a two and a half hour walk from Aguas Calientes to Hidroelectric Station, where Cola de Mono can coordinate a transportation from ⇒Hidroelectric to Cola de Mono (30 min aprox).
⇒By Train: There are three trains that leave from Aguas Calientes to Hidroelectric Station at 6: 30 am, 12:30 pm and 1:30 pm

What are the weight and age limits?

There is no weight limit (the cables are built to hold up to 6000kg). However, we recommend to keep in mind that there is an initial 20min walk up-hill that can result strenuous when coupled with the altitude. Children must be over 6 years old to use our zipline circuit
